History:
Northwest Carriage Museum The North West Carriage Museum was born with the vision of Raymond residents Gary and Cec Dennis. Their interest in turn of the century history inspired them to collect and restore these special carriages to their former elegance.

With the dream of sharing the carriages with the public the Dennis donated them to the City of Raymond in 1999. The dream became reality in September 2002 with the opening of The Northwest Carriage Museum. Since our opening thousands of people have stepped back in time at the museum and learned about transportation at the turn of the century.

Over the years the museum has continued to evolve and grow. The Wheelwright Shop, Zoetrope and other interactive exhibits were added in 2004 to bring more child oriented exhibits to the museum. The children’s exhibits have helped make the museum a fun learning experience for the entire family.

We had a fantastic time yesterday at the Northwest Carriage Museum. Laurie was so kind and took the time to tell us about a number of the carriages and the history behind them. It was amazing to see how different carriages used splash guards in different places, how windows were raised and lowered, carriages from all over the world and how the styles changed over time! The highlight for me was getting to see the carriage used in the movie Gone With the Wind, but there is so much more to enjoy besides that. And the children's area was so much fun, not only for kids but for us adults too.

This place is AMAZING! I had no idea what to expect and was completely blown away! Beautiful and HUGE collection. Great interpretive displays. Cool interactive section for adults and kids. Great, friendly and knowledgeabe volunteer. We went out of our way to check this out and it was completely worth it. I wud check this out if ur ever even remotely close to Raymond, WA.
