Our Story

We started our winery and vineyard in 2005 but the origins of Ramseyer Vineyards go back long before that. My dad was a home winemaker in the 1960's and our entire family had a hand in picking, crushing, fermenting and pressing the grapes every fall. We rarely missed a vintage until my dad died in 1986.

For the next 20 years, I thought of making wine and farming a vineyard of my own. In 2005, Heather and I found the perfect vineyard site in Zillah...a 70 acre former apple orchard with full water rights. In 2007, we planted three acres of Cabernet, one acre of Cabernet Franc and one half acre each of Malbec and Merlot.

Our first six wines, as limited and relatively unknown as they are, have led us to new and exciting places and introduced us to many new friendships. Our sixth release (scheduled for May 2013) is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc, 10% Merlot and 10% Malbec all from our estate vineyard. We produced 220 cases of this wine and it will be available through our customer mailing list.
